Parents/Guardians of K-6 Students I wanted to reach out on behalf of the K-6 building administrators and K-6 specialists (i.e. art, music, library, and health/P.E.) to explain some changes in how specials will be graded on the report card. Those specific changes are outlined below. --- Students will receive a "C" for "Consistent" or an "NC" for "Not Consistent" in reference to their attendance in specials for Quarter 2. ... --- At K-4, if your child attended 50% or more of the synchronous sessions, he/she will receive a grade of "C" or "Consistent" for each special where they attended 50% or more of the time. However, if your child attended less than 50% of the synchronous sessions, he/she will receive a grade of "NC" or "Not Consistent" for each special where they attended less than 50% of the time. --- At Reiffton, if your child attended 75% or more of the synchronous sessions, he/she will receive a grade of "C" or "Consistent" for each special where they attended 75% or more of the time. However, if your child attended less than 75% of the synchronous sessions, he/she will receive a grade of "NC" or "Not Consistent" for each special where they attended less than 75% of the time. --- Specialists will still use the existing report card comments built into Skyward to emphasize positive things they are seeing with your children. --- There will be a virtual honor roll for each special area by building so that specialists can honor students for outstanding participation and work during Quarter 2 and/or the 1st Semester. --- Library & Research will be combined as one special as will Health & P.E. so that children are not negatively impacted twice for lack of consistent attendance in the same content area. Therefore, you will notice that Health and Research classes will be grayed out as "Not Graded" on the report card. --- Students in Grades 3-4 Strings and Band will not see a grade on the report card but will receive a progress report from the teacher during the 3rd Marking Period. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your son/daughter's specialists and/or building principal. Sincerely, Patrick T. Winters, Ed.D. Assistant Superintendent - Exeter Township School District
