In anticipation of the upcoming snowstorm the City of Shamokin will be under a snow emergency declaration from Sunday at 6pm until Tuesday at 4pm. The following... parking restrictions will be in place during this time: No parking on the North side of Sunbury Street from Pearl Street to 6th Street, this is a request from PA dot to assist with the increased truck traffic during snow storms. No overnight parking on Independence Street from Shamokin Street to Market Street. Councilman Roughton and the Fire Chief will have the fire department on standby in certain stations during the storm. Please do not pile snow near fire hydrants and if possible clean around them. Please dial 911 for any emergencies. Councilman Verano requests that all residents refrain from unnecessary travel to allow the plow trucks to get the streets open.
