4th of July is quickly approaching, so make sure you're prepared! Check out our new "4th of July" section on our retail website (https://fairmountpetshoppe.square.site/) for some of our favorite activity toys and calming products. Some helpful tips: 1) Take your dog for a long walk before the festivities begin. This will allow them to potty before the noise begins and the activity also tires them out.... 2) Never use fireworks around your pets. The noise can spook them into taking off, or they can accidentally get burned by the fireworks. 3) Make sure your pet is wearing an ID collar with your current contact info. We can engrave ID tags within a few minutes at the store! Give us a call if you need one! 4) Loud fireworks displays are no fun for dogs. Resist the urge to bring your dog with you to festivities 5) Leave your pets at home with all the windows securly closed and all shades drawn. Turn on some music to drown out noise from fireworks. 6) Leave your pet something to play with as a distraction (such as a frozen Kong or puzzle toy) 7) Use calming products such as calming treats or sprays to help alleviate anxiety. Edible calming products should be administered about half an hour before activities begin. Let us know if you have any questions preparing for the holiday! And remember to keep observing social distancing so that we all remain healthy for the months to come!
