"Rejection of the Good Shepard"

Join us this Sunday, March 28th, at 10:30am as Pastor Andy goes through Zechariah 11. This chapter speaks of how the Lord is the shepherd of His people, yet His people reject Him. He breaks the staff of favor and union and declares that they will be shepherded by a foolish shepherd. We see the rejection of the Lord by His people and we read the prophetic words of 30 pieces of silver thrown to the potter, and cannot miss the connection to the rejection of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, who was betrayed by Judas for 30 pieces of silver. We can rejoice in the suffering that Christ willingly endured for us, but there is also a challenge for us to be sure that we are not rejecting our Lord in pursuit of our self-centered worship.

Join us this Sunday, February 14th, at 10:30am as Pastor Andy keeps us moving through Zechariah. Chapter 5 records 2 more visions that the Lord gave to Zechariah. The first is of a flying scroll. The second is of a woman, named Wickedness, in a basket that is removed. The imagery in the visions is bizarre, but the meaning is clear. These two visions together show us sin being exposed, judged and removed. Again we see this fulfillment in Christ as He took our sin upon Himself and through His atoning death on the cross, our sin is judged and removed. There also is an ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in our lives as He exposes our sin and judges it so that we see our sin as wicked, and He removes it from us. These visions continue to drive home the teaching of justification and sanctification in Christ.

Join us this Sunday, January 17th, at 10:30am as Pastor Andy finishes up chapter 1 in Zechariah! The Lord gives Zechariah a 2nd vision of 4 horns and craftsmen. The description of this vision is one of judgment on the nations that the Lord had used to discipline the Israelites. It reminds us that God is sovereign and He raises up nations to accomplish His purposes, yet the people are always accountable before God for their deeds. We also notice that God defends His people and will bring justice. As we see in the history of Israel, this doesn’t mean that God’s people will not suffer or face persecution, but it does mean that God is always aware and God will ultimately bring justice!

Join us this Sunday, February 7th, at 10:30am as AJ Miller walks us through Zechariah 4. The Lord gives Zechariah a 5th vision. In this vision, we see a golden lampstand with a bowl and 7 lamps. There is some disagreement on what this lampstand actually looked like. Some believe it was like the lampstand of the temple, yet others believe it was more like a chandelier with a bowl at the top for the oil. For a few reasons, I believe it is the latter. The discussion of this visi...on goes on to speak of Zerubbabel who was given a task from the Lord that seemed far beyond his ability, and he would accomplish it (v. 6) not by might or power, but by the Lord’s Spirit. The fuel of the lampstand flows to all of the lamps to give them power, just as the Spirit of God flows to all of His people to empower them for service. We must rely every moment of every day upon the Holy Spirit at work in our lives! See more

Join us! As we study the book of Zechariah 1: 7-17

Join us this Sunday, January 10th, at 10:30am as Pastor Andy jumps into our 2nd message of a series called The Lord Remembers in the book of Zechariah. This passage presents us with the first of the visions that the Lord gives to Zechariah. This vision of horsemen patrolling the earth comes with the message that the earth is at rest. This sounds like a comforting message, yet this does not bode well for Israel thriving and coming out from under the oppressive exile. The Lord speaks and gives hope to His people. He has returned to Jerusalem. His presence is with His people and He will see them rebuilt. This is a powerful message that we need to hear in the midst of the difficulties that we face. God is jealous for His people and He will always be with them and build them up!
