It's Wacky Wednesday, and scammers will do some really wacky things to try and steal your information and take your money...don't let them fool you! Recently, we received an email, here at the office, from "amazn delivery." Did you catch that? The O is missing from Amazon. That's the first clue. Amy did some further research. She called the customer service number listed on the email. It was answered by someone claiming to be "Amazon Customer Service." The representitve told ...Amy that the email was a phishing scam. She was then instructed to go purchase an Amazon gift card and give the representative the gift card code with the promise of the money being refunded and our account being corrected. That's when we knew there was something "fishy" about this phishing scam. Amy searched for the authentic Amazon customer service number, and an Amazon employee confirmed this was a scam! Scammers are getting more and more clever with the help of advanced technology. They'll try to scam you into thinking they're helping you avoid a scam. How wacky! Tips to help avoid phishing scams: 1. Always check the email sender: look for missing letters like the O missing in Amazon. 2. Trust your gut. 3. Be cautious when giving out personal/financial information. Do your research first, and don't feel threatened into giving your information https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html
