Building life skills is another way to empower our guests to live their best life. In this case, it is to learn how to cook.

With a house full of kids we asked Santa for some backup to help keep a close eye on behaviors until Christmas. I would like to introduce Sassy McZooZoo to our Day Center. She will be in quarantine during her stay here but we will make sure she is well taken care of. Now lets hope Sassy McZooZoo and her watchful eye will help with some naughty behaviors!

Christmas is in the air and the kids are full of energy and excitement. We have gotten a few last minute Christmas gift requests. I have put together an easy Target registry with all the wishes as well as some hats and gloves that are needed. To deter theft the shipping is to my address. Move out days are always bittersweet for us. This lovely lady has been working so hard to get herself and her family safe and stable. She has CRUSHED it! This weekend she was able to move into her own place with her little girls! Also with the help of many donations over the past couple of months, she has almost all of what she needed!! When I told her that we had some beds and dressers in our storage, she said, "It has been over 2 years since I have slept in a bed that is my own." Congratulation on your new place and your OWN BED!!!!!!

We welcomed a new family yesterday and while taking the family on the tour of the Day Center the oldest daughter said "This is the best place ever! Can we live here for a thousand days?!" I asked her is it because of the toys or the other kids here and she said "Nope! It's because we have a kitchen with food now and my mom can cook for us" These simple kitchen cabinets are just another part of a kitchen to us but to this little girl it holds the many delicious meals that her Mom can now make for them while at Family Promise.
