https://www.friendsjournal.org/breath-of-the-ancestors/ This morning I received an email from a Friend (non Quaker) thanking me for the article in Friends Journal.(online edition) The Fellowship of Friends of African Descent trip to Ghana. As a person of African descent she was deeply saddened to read again the atrocities committed towards people of African descent within the walls of those slave fortresses. And that was just the beginning of more atrocities to come. Contin...uing for more than 400 years. And then she said for the life of me I don't know how you and the Quakers continue to still believe that God is in each person? I did not share with her the scripture verse were Jesus said: God maketh sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.Personally I have not found these words to be a balm or reassuring for folks who are suffering. So I couldn't truly answer my friend question this morning. When I think about it we don't pick God's friends. I guess we just hope God is working in folks who do awful things but also working in all of us for the greater good.
