This kiddo right here may be little but he can sure man a fire! He has managed to shove his big brothers out of the position and claim it for his own. He sets a timer and fires every 3 to 4 minutes each time we boil! What a blessing it has been to watch him take on the responsibility! Way to go Sawyer.
What a absolutely beautiful day for a boil. This warm weather may be bringing a close to the syrup season!
These last couple days sure have been beautiful! Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow! Got to love freezing nights and warm days this time of year! That's what it takes to make the sap flow and fill our tanks!
Did you know that there are different grades or colors to maple syrup all with their own flavor and it is all just something that happens on it's own. Maple syrup is graded solely by its color. This difference in color has mostly to do with when the syrup is made. As the spring warms up, the sap coming from the trees becomes darker in color, producing a darker syrup. Corresponding to color, the darker the syrup is, the stronger its maple flavor. This week produced Delicate Golden Syrup, which is a favorite in our house. Have you ever tasted the different grades? Stop by and we would love to give you a taste test to see which you prefer!
We sure are slacking these days. Hurry up and get out there and tap those maples.
