This highly stylised, carefully coloured antique print was included as an illustration in a series titled Gazette du Bon Ton a fashion periodical devoted to Parisian high fashion. The clothing, settings, postures and attitudes of the subjects reflect a taste for sophisticated style and taste of the Art Deco jazz age. Our elegantly dressed beach goer is outfitted in bold nautical stripes by Gustave Beer. #frenchfashiondesigners #beachlife #artdecofashion #fineantiqueprints #gazettedubonton
Bar at Maxim’s and Day at the Races by Georges Goursat a French caricature artist known as Sem. A charming and talented man, Goursat’s inspiration came from observing French high society enjoying life at restaurants, the opera, and the races. Goursat actually chose horse racing for his entry into the Beau Monde. His first portfolio of prints was titled Le Turf and contained caricatures of many prominent Parisians - an overnight success. He created posters illustrating the new resort towns of Deauville, Monte Carlo, and Cannes and his art is particularly associated with the Belle Époque in France. #www.incollect.com/thenewportshow. #fineantiqueprints.com #semprints#belleepoque
