Missing dog in Freemansburg. Cambria St area.
This evening members from Freemansburg, Forks Township, Lower Saucon, and EM-1 had their skills portion of the Hazmat Ops Refresher. Skill was dispersion of chemicals. We would like to thank Joe David; our instructor, for taking his time to get this all accomplished.
Happy Easter from our family to yours!
January 9th is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Thank you: Chief Itterly, Officers Smith, Mead, Conte, Ramirez, Farneski, Weichand, Alpizar, Elkadousy, and DeLeone for your service to our Borough.
***Update they are only cable*** We have just been dispatched to the 400 block of Chestnut St. for wires down. We will update soon whether they are electrical or cable and phone.
Please give yourself some extra time today if you need to go out, roads are icy and even though they are not our incidents there have been multiple accidents on 33 and 78 reported in the last half hour. Be safe out there.
We would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. We all know 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. We all would like to thank you for all the patience and support as we had to change up different events this year but were able to still get out and see everyone. Here is to a better year ahead. Also please don't DRINK AND DRIVE. Call an uber, tow company, etc to come and get you.
Warning for drivers! Wintry weather brings many dangers, including the treacherous and often hidden black ice. Keep these tips in mind. https://6abc.com/weather/how-to-avoid-black-ice/2861832/
This was the accident that we were requested by Lower Saucon for mutual aid in shutting the highway down.
At this time of year with the cold we have seen many fires in the past because of this. Please plug the space heaters into the wall.
***Update Main St is now open*** We have just been dispatched to the area Main St. And Freemansburg Ave. (This is closer to the Lockhouse area),for a wire fire. Please be patient while we take care of the incident. We have a part of Main St. shutdown from Main and Washington up to Freemansburg Ave.
***Update crews have cleared the scene*** Thank you to Bethlehem Twsp(17) Nancy Run(14) Ems 17 for the quick response. We have just been dispatched for a dwelling fire on ramblewood lane.
As we all wake up and start to clean up all of the snow we have some helpful reminders. *Is it ILLEGAL to Drive with Snow and Ice on the Roof of a Car in Pennsylvania? YES it is!! (A snow brush and ice scraper cost less than $20)... Title 75 4524, drivers must have a clear, unobstructed, view of the road at all times. Snow and ice along with any other debris must be removed from all windows before driving. Failure to comply with this statute is a primary offense, which means Police Officers may initiate traffic stops for violations. The fine for driving with an obstructed view is $25 but with administrative and other fees added on, violators can expect to pay close to $150. Additional penalties exist if falling snow or ice causes seriously injures or kills another party, as described in Title 75 3720. If snow or ice comes loose from your vehicle and strikes another vehicle or pedestrian causing serious bodily injury or death, you are subject to a fine of up to $1,000 for each offense. *It is also illegal to throw snow in the st. *Please keep an eye on the elderly and those that are sick. We know that they can be stubborn at times and by doing to much to long can add more stress to their bodies that they don't need. *The roads will still be slick while traveling in the early morning hours. We hope everyone stayed safe and warm overnight.
Please stay safe as can be while traveling if you have to go out. And we would also like to say stay safe to all first responders and tow truck drivers as they will be out in this for emergencies.
***SNOW EMERGENCY WILL BE IN EFFECT*** Starting Wednesday 12/16/2020 at 12:00pm until further notice. Please watch here or on WFMZ for any updates. Cars must be removed from posted Snow Emergency routes by noon Wednesday. Thank you and stay safe!!
We have been requested by Lower Saucon to help shut down an area of I78 W and 412 for an accident.
With all this snow coming tomorrow we just wanted to to give some helpful reminders. * Incase of power outages please do not call 9-1-1 or the non emergency line, call your power company for any updates. *Keep an eye out on your elderly neighbors.... *Make sure that your dryer vents are clear of any lint and snow. *Please adopt a Fire Hydrant and keep it clear of snow if you can't shovel it 3 ft around try and do your best. We ask of this due to if there is an emergency we can access it faster. * Most of our firefighters live in the boro. But if there is an emergency it might take them a little bit more time to respond due to the snow, this goes for ems and the police officer's as well. We can only help you of we respond safely. And lastly please don't travel if you do not have to. We hope you all stay safe and warm.
