Fire Department Mount Joy

Tonight FDMJ travelled to the County training center to complete the practical portion of our annual Haz-Mat Operations Training. This year’s topic was the use and application of firefighting foam. Foam is used to help extinguish difficult-to-fight fires, particularly fires that involve petroleum or other flammable liquids.

Engine 75-1 & Tanker 69 operated on a small brush fire during the lunch hour on Route 283 Westbound in Rapho Township. Thank you to Hempfield Fire Department for their water!

Tonight FDMJ held its annual banquet at the Gathering Place in Mount Joy. Special thanks to Rheems Fire Department for covering our area while we enjoyed ourselves. A favorite part of the banquet is the Year in Review video.

Training, Training, Training. We never stop training. Friday evening a group of members trained on deploying and advancing hose lines into structures. Saturday Chief Clark is teaching a Pumps 1 class to a group of FDMJ members. This class includes many of our younger members who will be coming up as drivers in the next few years.
