My thoughts of today... my words for those who are with me... Team... I'd like to take a minute of your time. I don't want anyone to put a thumbs-up or even to ...respond... I just want everyone to think about this for a few minutes as you go about your evening. For those of you that were with us over the last 24 hours I would like you to look back and reflect for a minute. During the last 24 hours of operations on our last call... there was a unique setting. Today when we worked there was no Chief there was no Lieutenant and there certainly was no PROBY. We didn't have a K-9 Team... We didn't have a Rope Team. Nobody wore a colored helmet and no one answered the radio utilizing a designation. There was a Dan, there was a Fischer, there was a Roach, and there was a Timmer. There was a DeAnna, and a Nick. There was a Martin and there was a Drew. Nobody had Command... And nobody was in charge. It didn't matter who the Chief was and even less who signs our checks. What I did notice was that when somebody saw something 3 people acted... When somebody said something everybody listened. As we ended our day together What mattered most was the fact that when someone yelled everybody jumped and in the end a life was saved. Everyone took a roll everyone had their hand in the pot. Think about that for just a minute. The things that truly matter mattered most today. After 22 years of doing this job I can tell you this, my experience tells my heart that if we did not find this individual during the daylight hours of today the subject that we found would not have survived. The conditions in which we located and recovered the subject that was missing were near impossible to find. I truly feel that given the operations, the time of day, and all the circumstances that surrounded this call... Had the decisions not been made, had the effort not been given... I truly believe that our subject of today would have died where we found him. So for every time that we have driven 3 hours only to sign in and be sent home and every time that we have had to debate over SOPs and Bylaws... for the sake of living from one PR event to the another... and trying to figure out how we're going to pay for the tools that we need... This is why we're here. No medals... No white hats... It's not about the position that we might want or the meeting that we failed to sit through. It's about one man that was only in our arms for a short time but one man that showed us who we truly are. Everybody's part was equal... And everyone's reward was just the same. *ADOPTED!* Snickers has been in the shelter for over a YEAR now! We just know his furever home is out there somewhere! IF YOU CAN'T ADOPT - PLEASE SHARE! Let's... get this PAWsome boy into the home he deserves!! Snickers has even passed all of his Canine Good Citizen tests while at the shelter and is officially CGC Certified! Snickers is a super sweet boy who has gone out on numerous Dog's Day Out adventures with his volunteer buddies and did great. Snickers adores his little Tales for Tails pals that come in to read to him and usually falls asleep during the session. This handsome brindle boy appreciates any opportunity to cuddle and longs to finally experience true love. Initially found as a stray, we don't know how Snickers ended up all alone in life. Snickers will need to be the only pet in his furever home. If you're looking for a smart, eager to please boy with a more relaxed personality - look no further! Our Snicker-doodle will make a wonderful addition to the right family.
