Thanks for a great interview, See Philly Run, and opportunity to share more about what Fix Your Run is all about! https://www.seephillyrun.com//seephillyrun-friday-chat-wit
Congratulations to Carol Sexton for dropping an epic 19:46 5k (PR!) this past Sunday! She’s super humble, so I’ll brag for her. This is a world class time! It’s equivalent to someone in her 20s running under 15 minutes! She cranked out 12.5 solo laps on the track to win the Boston Buddies facebook group 5k tournament which featured 63 other great runners. She virtually raced a 5k race every week for 7 weeks because she kept winning. And, in the finals, she was up against and... dispatched none other than the marathon and ultramarathon legend himself, Michael Wardian! Amazing job, Carol!!!
Throwback to that epic 2018 season when it all came together! https://www.podiumrunner.com//gene-dykes-my-best-race-and/

Real talk: with all that is going on, finding motivation to train right now can be HARD. Add to that, races are being postponed and/or cancelled. When it became clear that racing wouldn't be a safe option for the foreseeable future, what did you do? How are you modifying your training?... Here are my thoughts on the topic, but I'm very interested in yours! https://www.inquirer.com//broad-street-run-postponed-train
Thank you 6abc Action News for turning to me with this story! A whole lotta new runners these days - and for good reason. However, there are some pitfalls to keep in mind. https://6abc.com/6050256
Molly took responsibility for her situation, understood there would be no quick-fixes, and committed to doing the requisite work. What an inspiring human. Love her story! https://blog.strava.com/galle/molly-seidels-ultimate-trial/
I sometimes struggle with doubts when I feel I missed something (like Friday’s workout). But the truth is, it’s so important to listen to your body. A short-term readjustment is always better for your well-being. Whether it’s a cold or soreness I’ve learned jumping on the issue quicker helps you stay in the game longer. Looking into the week ahead, remember to be kind to yourself! Great quote from Mary Cain! https://www.instagram.com//after-a-chest-cold-kept-me-out-
Instead of trying to pre-fuel a marathon or other long endurance event, the current thinking is that the best strategy is to make carbohydrates available during an event and to take them in while you exercise. It takes practice to figure out the best way for you to ingest these carbs and train your gut to process them while you’re on the move, but a popular way to do this is with sugar-containing sports drinks or gels. But real food works too. My personal favorite is bacon... and egg rice cakes. But don’t assume my go-to food will suit you too. Experiment to figure out what works for you. https://elemental.medium.com/is-carbo-loading-still-a-thing
Thanks for the kind words, Brooke L Willmes! HUGE props to you for putting your trust in me, for taking responsibility for your body, then putting in ALL the work, week after week. It's Fix YOUR Run. I don't 'fix' anyone. HINT: No one is broken! (Though it may feel like it, I get it!)... I will, however, show you what you need to do to get better.
Love this! https://www.nytimes.com//olympic-runners-women-qualifiers.
