Wednesday night training with Darby Township Volunteer Fire Company #4 Station.76 Pump training and Water supply.
In effect today is the Pennsylvania Move Over Law (Act 105 , formerly known as SB1281) The law requires drivers approaching an emergency scene, who are unable to safely merge into a lane further away from the response area, to slow to at least 20 mph less than the posted speed limit. An emergency response area is where an emergency vehicle has its lights flashing, or where road crews or emergency responders have lighted flares, posted signs, or try to warn travelers. Knowi...ng the law is everyone’s responsibility. Learn more by visiting: https://www.penndot.gov/.../Pages/Move-Over,-Slow-Down See more
Over the past 7 weekends 4 members from Station 1 along with 14 members from other Delaware County companies participated in BVR class. Here are a few pictures from the last several weekends. Thank You to Chester Township Fire Department for Co-Hosting the class.
We are very pleased to present the new and improved engine 28! The past few months have been spent placing new equipment on this piece of apparatus. Students c...hose the location of all equipment, mounted the equipment and chose the hose loads that you’ll see in the pictures below. As of today, engine 28 meets and exceeds the standards for minimum equipment required on engines/pumpers (set forth it NFPA 1901, standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus). Some of these new features and upgrades include, 1: New lettering/signage to reflect DCTS, DCIU and EPS program pride. 2: A full set vehicle rescue tools, hand tools and a hydraulic forcible entry tool from Collingdale Fire Company - Station 33 (technically making this unit a squad company as it has vehicle rescue and truck company equipment.) 3: Cribbing for vehicle stabilization. 4: Brand new Milwaukee Tool 9 battery powered cutoff saw and scene lights. A gas powered chainsaw is also on order. 5: Nozzles donated by Upper Chichester Fire Department. 6: Attack hose donated by Milmont Fire Co. 49 and Bethel Twp. Hose Co.#1. 7: Supply hose donated by Glenolden Fire Company Station 5, Woodlyn Volunteer Fire Company Delco Station 67 and Prospect Park Fire Company. 8: Portable radios for each riding position donated by Tim Eichleman. This fire engine is yet another example of the pride displayed by EPS students on a daily basis. Additionally, this excellent training tool would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the generosity of area fire companies and EMS organizations. We sincerely appreciate the support! Please enjoy this detailed virtual tour of engine 28 and feel free to ask any questions!
Reminder tomorrow 12/13 Sunday Santa will be making his rounds through out the town. He will be starting at 10 am. Due to COVID-19 things will be a little different this year. Out of an abundance of caution for our members, their families and the community, we will not be handing out candy canes. Any street that is closed tomorrow due to road work. Santa will be stopping back one night next week to make sure everyone can see him drive by. We will keep everyone posted what time this will be.

Last night for Drill once again we joined up with Briarcliffe Fire Company Station 75 to continue our review of vehicle rescue equipment and techniques to stabilize and lift a vehicle. This will be a continuing series of Drills to train both companies. Each week we will review previous training and then add a different element to the scenarios. We will be using other techniques as the drills progress through out the coming weeks. Next drill is scheduled for this continued series is Dec 15th. Pictures credit to Briarcliffe and Folcroft members.
