Yesterday EMS West renewed the QRS (Quick Response Service) Licensure on the Utility, and the QRS and VRSR (Voluntary Rescue Service Recognition) on the Rescue. The QRS license identifies that our department is equipped and responds to medical calls with EMS certified personnel until an ambulance arrives. The VRSR shows that our Rescue is equipped with necessary equipment and we have sufficient personnel with rescue certifications to perform at a rescue incident.

Congratulations to Firefighter James Dzurica and Firefighter Brad Kemsey for passing and obtaining their Firefighter 1 certifications. These members participated in over 188 hours of training and were tested to the professional board of certifications level.

Congratulations to Chief Bob Rosatti, Asst. Chief Steven Rosatti, Firefighter Jeff Paulich, and Firefighter Billy Rapone on successfully achieving their Firefighter II certifications. This is not the end, but shows the constant dedication to training and certification within our department.

Thank you to the members of the community that donated cleaning and disinfecting items to our department. This is truly a help in the safety of our members and to others in the community. Your generosity reduces the risk of infection and spread of the virus when our services are needed. Thanks again for your consideration and support in these uncertain times.

Our department has instituted policies to maintain a clean station and disinfecting apparatus after all uses. As many of you are having difficulty locating disinfecting supplies and hand sanitizer, our department is no different. There is no special supply or priority for our organization. If anyone has any excess of supplies and willing to donate we are in need of disinfectant (wipes or spray), hand sanitizer, liquid soap, and N95 masks. We strive and take pride in being prepared for any emergency, however this COVID-19 pandemic has exhausted our normal amounts of supplies. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

With shortages of cleaning products in this time of need, here are some reminders of harmful home cleaning mixtures.

Congratulations to Firefighter William "Billy" Rapone on achieving his Fire Fighter I Certication. This certification is a Pro-Board Accreditation which is an International Accreditation for Fire Service Organizations. In order to be eligible to test for this certification this member was required to complete over 200 hours of training in an Essentials of Fire Fighting class with Live Burn Session, Haz-Mat Operations, CPR, First Aid, a several station practical exam, and a written exam.
