SPRING 2017 PASTURE RAISED CHICKEN ORDERS Welcome to Forest and Meadow Farm. After several years of raising meat chickens for myself, this year I am excited to offer Pasture Raised Chickens for sale. What is a Pasture Raised Chicken? Chickens are naturally omnivorous, and therefore consume a wide r...ange of plants, grains, and insects. Pasture Raised Chickens are chickens who have been granted the opportunity to naturally forage for a large portion of their diet out in the fresh air and sunshine. In addition to an organic, Non-GMO feed, this lifestyle produces a happy and healthy bird, that in turn, is a highly nutritious food for us. What will I get? You should expect to receive a fresh whole chicken that has been processed and bagged. Each chicken will weigh around 5.5 pounds. These are great as broilers or for making the best tasting soup ever. When will I get my chicken? The chickens will be available for pick-up at the Farm on Friday, June 30th from 6 to 8pm or on Saturday, July 1st from 8 to noon. Perfect for 4th of July picnics! How much? The chicken you will receive is of the highest quality in flavor, nutrition, and animal welfare, therefore the prices reflect these costs. Our chickens are priced at $4 a pound. With an average bird weighing 5.5lbs, you should expect to pay $22.00 per bird. Following a Community-Supported Agriculture model, we are asking for a $10.00 deposit for each bird upon order with the balance being paid at the time of pick-up.
