Form Concrete Studio

Here are some pictures of the latest countertop install for The Common Wheel bike shop in Lancaster. The front edge has a bike tire tread detail filled with red concrete, and bike parts and tools were inlayed into the top to really make this thing stand out. The big piece has a 6 foot radius and that front edge is over 18 feet long! Stop into The Common Wheel to check it out, and go ahead and get a bike while you are there.

CONCRETE PICTURE FRAMES!! This idea has been kicking around in my head for a while and has finally busted out into the world. I have made some molds in a few standard sizes with different profiles and have several frames in stock just waiting for a good home. I am hoping to make some more molds with different profiles soon to expand the selection and I will keep you updated on that. I also opened a Form Concrete Studio shop on etsy.com to sell them so go check that out. If you want one you can order from there or if you are local and want to save the shipping, get in touch and stop in my shop to pick one up. I will be making more, so if you want one in a different color, let me know and I can make one just for you. Prices are $60-$65 each and custom sizes are available for special orders.

Recent countertop redo (not my work). This countertop used to be white. The original sealer was yellowing because it was not UV stable, making it look dirty. Customer asked me if I could stain it a light gray while it was stripped. After doing a stain test on the bare concrete, we both thought that it wasn't taking evenly and it wasn't what they were hoping for. So I added some pigment to the sealer and applied the color that way. A beautiful even light gray. They were thrilled. I have redone a few tops made by other people, and let me tell you that there are some real hacks out there doing crap work that makes us pros look bad. Doing high quality artisan concrete work is not for the weekend warrior. It takes lots of time, very specific materials, and experience to do a good job. All the products that I use in my work are UV stable.

Fireplace surround for Longview Structures finished.

Coming soon! Beautiful custom(literally one of a kind) concrete frames exclusively at Sheldon's. Each will be hand made by Cogs at Form Concrete Studio in Lancaster, Pa. Get it!

The big pieces of the surround are in. Now to make a piece of concrete in an accenting color to fill in the empty space.

Sending these big pieces out today. A gas fire place surround for the excellent guys at Longview Structures. Hearth, mantle and pillars in a bluish grey.

Just wrapped up this nice little install. The countertops are a bone white concrete with a beveled edge detail, and the piece with the sink has a bowed front edge. The backsplash is large format concrete panels with a white and yellow marbled effect to compliment the wall color.
