Many thanks to my friends Patty and Bill for bringing me Shamrock seeds from their trip to Ireland. After much research, I chose the following method to get them to germinate. I soaked the seeds in water for a week, then refrigerated the wet seeds for several days, sowed them in vermiculite and coconut coir and set them outside to freeze and thaw as the weather dictated for several weeks, then moved them to an unheated light-filled mud porch to keep them at roughly 40 deg...rees for a week and finally to a heat mat under grow lights. Within days they started to germinate. Tiny fragile seedlings at first which are quickly growing into darling little plants. I am delighted to share pictures of these babies, which are now starting to resemble Shamrocks. I may not have an Elf on a Shelf but I do believe I have a Leprechaun in the Greenhouse. See more
