Sunday we continue taking big gulps of Scripture to grasp the amazing gospel story of the Bible. God promised to Abraham and Sara that all the world would be blessed through them. This coming Sunday Pastor Mark surveys how God begins to solve humanity’s sin problem by liberating and shaping a covenant, missional, shalom community to love Him and to love their neighbors in the Story of Israel: Salvation Starts and Falters.

Wednesday night Bible Studies are an opportunity to dig deeper into God's Word. Throughout the month of April, we will be gathering to study the book of 2 Timothy, a compelling and important book focusing on themes like God's grace, sound doctrine, right living, and spiritual leadership that honors Christ. Each week we will invite a guest-teacher to cover one chapter. This week, we welcome Mike Clemmer, teaching on chapter four.

Bad news: we live in a broken and sin-soaked world; our relationship with God, with ourselves, with each other, and even with creation itself is fractured. Good news: that’s not the end of the story. We’re in a new sermon series called The Gospel Story, which traces God’s great salvation story throughout the entire Bible. Last week the problem was defined. This week, salvation is promised. We begin a new sermon series -- Gospel Story -- which views the whole sweep & variety of the Bible -- Genesis to Revelation -- as a grand story of God’s salvation plan. The fancy word for this interpretive lens is Heilsgeschichte: Story of Salvation. Mark introduces this 5-week series with a sermon entitled The Problem Defined from the opening chapters of Genesis.

WORSHIP -- In-person & Livestreaming -- January 31, 2021, 10:15am Over the past three Sundays, Pastor Josh and Pastor Kyle have unpacked the sharp message of God’s judgment through the Prophet Hosea to ancient Israel -- a Word that remains bracingly relevant for the people of God today. We conclude the series from Hosea this coming Sunday as Pastor Mark preaches from Hosea 14. There is forgiveness and hope for the future promised by God for those who turn from sin, and turn toward God

Last week Pastor Kyle preached on Hosea 1, inviting us to consider the individual sin in our own lives. This week, Pastor Josh will continue our Hosea series, covering chapters 3-11. In this section, the prophet identifies a number of specific sins that the Israelites were committing...and sins we may still struggle with today. But there is hope. When conviction leads to contrition and confession, we can experience the restoration of Jesus.

Throughout the Christmas story, we see a consistent theme emerge in response to good news: singing. Zechariah sings. Mary sings. Angels sing. Simeon sings. And on Sunday, we’ll join our voices in song as well. We’re wrapping up our Sounds of the Season sermon series with an opportunity for folks in the congregation to share the Christmas songs, verses, or lyrics that are especially meaning to them. After each song is highlighted, we’ll then sing a few verses of that song. Part sermon, part song-service, part open-mic sharing time -- we’re looking forward to praising God through these sounds of the season. Come prepared to share if you feel so led.

Christmas is a season of "good news of great joy." And yet for many, joy has been a bit harder to come by this year. It's no secret that 2020 has been challenging -- for a variety of reasons. How do we navigate the disconnect between what we wished we were feeling and the reality of our experience? Join us on Christmas Eve as we consider Mary's role in giving birth to Jesus and how we might discover uncommon joy in unprecedented times.

We continue our Sounds of the Season sermon series on Sunday. Quite a few Christmas carols explicitly mention redemption in their lyrics. Like Silent Night -- radiant beams from thy holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace. What is the biblical understanding of redemption? What does Jesus' birth have to with redemption? How does that matter today? Pastor Mark will explore this theme woven through Scripture and several Christmas carols.
