Frankie's Friends Cat Rescue 08.06.2021

Update on our boy Charlie Here he is sporting his ruby red sparkling slippers. He is doing so much better day by day! Our technicians have to soak, clean and wrap his little legs every other day and he takes it like a champ! Send Charlie some well wishes and love. We put a few updated photos of his wounds in the comments.

**Veterinarians needed** We at Frankie’s Friends take our mission to heart. We all believe that all cats, including community cats (stray and feral), deserve to have medical care, have loving homes, and live lives free from suffering. Because 70% of animals that are euthanized in shelters are cats, our high volume, high quality spay/neuter (HQHVSN) program saves countless lives. Helping the many other cats with specialized surgeries and medical care (provided at low or no-...cost) allows cats to stay out of shelters and remain with their families (including their outdoor colonies! ). Even though we spay/neuter over 8,000 cats each year, there are always more community cats being born and more cats entering the shelter system. We know what is needed to really make a difference - more people doing what we and all the other awesome rescuers do. We especially need more spay/neuter and shelter veterinarians. That is where the exciting news comes in - Dr. Morrow will be taking our mission to the next level. She will be directing the Spay-Neuter, Community Outreach, and Shelter Medicine Program at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine to train others to do what we do! When an opportunity to teach others how to perform HQHVSN, educate the public about TNR and community cats, and expand our humane research in feline infectious diseases arose, our team knew that the ability to disseminate what we have learned, and learn more through research, will ultimately help cats on a larger scale. The downside is that we will have to scale back our services temporarily at Frankie’s Friends until we can get some help. So that being said, if anyone knows of any veterinarians that would like to help Frankie’s Friends out temporarily or would like a full time vet position please have them reach out to us via email at [email protected].
