French Creek State Park

Are you planning on starting the new year at French Creek? If so try our self guided trails! You can choose to hike the Hopewell Lake Loop (about 3 miles) or Scotts Run Lake loop (about 2.5 miles). There are no guided in person hikes, feel free to enjoy these with friends and family. Make sure you are following the loop markers pictured below and checking out the information posted along the hike. Enjoy!

Our trail crew put in some hard work this morning to help cleanup the old Six Penny day use area. We cleared brush around the area to make it more accessible for visitors to enjoy the view of the dam. Six Penny Lake was a hotspot in the 1940's for swimming and picnicking (you can no longer swim at this location). Make sure to visit the dam by hiking the Six Penny trail loop.

French Creek State Park is looking for a temporary cleaning service to clean our cabins and cottages after each occupant. We have 9 cabins and 3 cottages all get cleaned multiple times per week. We are looking for someone to start ASAP. The contract will go out for bid in early 2021 for anyone interested in bidding on the 5-year contract. Today we swore in our first Junior Rangers! We recently implemented a Junior Ranger program that encourages visitors to learn and explore French Creek. The program is geared towards children and is a great way to engage with the park while being socially distant with your family! Stop by the park office anytime to complete your Junior Ranger booklet and earn a badge and certificate!
