Today is May Day. You may think of it as a holiday where you wrapped streamers around a pole as a child, but there's much more to this celebration. May Day is rooted in pagan traditions celebrating spring. But it didn’t catch on in early America because the Puritans were not fans of the dancing, celebrating and rituals. Eventually, the U.S. Labor Movement adopted the day, when leaders declared eight hours a "legal day's work" beginning on May 1, 1886. The day for recognizin...g American workers later moved to September and became Labor Day. While it's still a festive day throughout Europe and other parts of the world, it's fallen into the "lesser-known" holidays category in the U.S. Will you be celebrating May Day this year?

Some marketers assume their website's homepage is the best place to direct clicks in a digital campaign. After all, it contains the most important information and links about the company. Why invest in a separate landing page? The answer is simple: A click is more likely to convert to a sale or other desired action when it leads prospective customers to a page where they can respond immediately, whether it's filling out a form, scheduling an appointment or ordering a product.... Remember that a landing page is a touchpoint with your brand, so make sure it follows your brand standards. Keep the design simple. Focus on the campaign message. Use compelling visuals and - most importantly - craft a strong call-to-action. Need help with your digital marketing? QR codes were first developed and used in the mid-1990s by the Japanese auto industry. In the 2010s, marketers experimented with incorporating QR codes into their packaging, advertising and merchandising. But the trend (some call it a "fad"), faded in just a few years. Fast-forward to 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic created demand for contactless commerce. The restaurant industry was an early adopter, with QR codes linking to menus, instead of using paper menus and discarding them after one use. Now QR codes are making a comeback. Most smart phones come with an easily accessible QR code reader. Whether used to link to a webpage for information or as a payment app, QR codes are everywhere and have for now lost their fad status.

To mark World Book Day, we're celebrating the life of author Beverly Cleary, who passed away in March at age 104. Since 1950, generations of children have acquired a love of books through the stories of Henry Huggins, Beezus and Ramona Quimby and other timeless characters. What's your favorite book?
