KILL ON SIGHT. I repeat. KILL ON SIGHT. This is Lycorma Delicatula, the Spotted Lanternfly. Currently in its 3rd stage of development, it is wingless, but an ex...ceptional jumper. Closely related to Cicadas and Aphids, this invasive species is from Southeast Asia, and feeds on plant sap using a straw-like proboscis on its face. They are an immediate threat to apple trees, peach trees, grapevines, and many hardwoods like Oak, Cherry, and Walnut. Pennsylvania's lumber industry (the #1 hardwood producer in the US) and our apple industry (#3 in the US) faces a serious threat because of these insects. This generation will sexually mature in the coming weeks, developing wings and laying eggs. I found this one, and HUNDREDS more, feeding upon my Sumac tree today. Any residents of the northeastern US should report any sightings on your property to your exterminator. Without action, this will be the one of the most devastating invasions in our state's history. #pennsylvania #spottedlanternfly #spottedlanternflyawareness #hemiptera #invasivespecies See more

With proper safety precautions, recreating in winter can be good for your health. Don’t let colder temps stop you from spending a little time outdoors. #ExplorePATrails
