Thank you to all the hard working volunteers who came out today to help get the park ready for the season! Special thanks to FOCSP board member Meredith Wilterdink and park asst manager, Dave Hoffman for coordinating the day's activities. It was a great success!

Are you headed to the park for a hike during the holiday weekend? We have plenty of places for you to explore and activities to enjoy while you are here! Did y...ou know a walk in the park is not limited to our 2 hiking-only trails? You may also enjoy the equestrian trails from our Main Launch Area & Sinsheim Cove parking area or explore the Mountain Bike Trails off Bankert Road. Both areas offer over 9 miles of trails that wind through our forests. A leisurely stroll through the Marina area is also an excellent choice! We also are currently offering 4 self-guided activities: 1.) Holiday Hunt-ables Challenge various locations. Can you find all 6 hidden caches in the park? Clues are available on our Facebook page as well as in the brochure rack by the park office front door. Available through January 8th. 2.) Winter Self-Guided Walk LaHo Trail 1.5 miles. Take a brochure from the parking lot kiosk at the trailhead or from the brochure rack by the park office front door. There are several numbered stops along the trail where you will learn a bit about the forest and history around you. Available through March 3.) Searching for Sasquatch -Mary Ann Furnace Trail 2.5 miles Begin at the Black Rock Road or Rummel Farm trailheads. Sasquatch didn’t just leave footprints along the trail; he left some tips on how to Leave No Trace while you are there! Can you find Cody, the Codorus Bigfoot along the trail? Available through January 31st. 4.) Winter Nature Scavenger Hunt anywhere in park or at home. Use the picture on Facebook or pick up a flyer outside the park office door then head out on a photo hunt to snap a picture of all the listed finds! Available through March **Please consider the following recommendations when visiting the park: Be considerate of others remain socially distant and wear a mask when encountering other groups on the trail. Wear fluorescent orange or other bright colors during hunting seasons. Wear proper footwear and dress for the weather. Trails may be icy or muddy this time of year. Bring a day pack that includes water bottle, snacks, first aid kit, trail map, hat and gloves. Notify someone who is not hiking with you of your destination and expected return time, especially if hiking alone. Practice Leave No Trace principles while hiking. Enjoy the park at different times and on different days - avoid high-traffic times. We hope you enjoy a safe visit to the park and have a very Happy New Year!

The weather was perfect to honor our veterans at the tree dedication memorial service held yesterday at the classroom. Thank you to Scott Taylor and all those involved in organizing this event each year. It's truly appreciated!
