DCNR is doing a controlled burn today in the below area marked in red. The trails between the bucket and the yellow gate will not be effected. Boot leg and a section of big mountain will be closed for today. Enjoy the beautiful day and stay safe.
Thanks to the group of people who helped with our trail day yesterday. A new section of trail was created and other trails were cleaned up and trimmed.
Tomorrow is the day! The day is finally here!Hope everyone can sleep tonight on the eve of another epic FORC (Friends of Roaring Creek)trail work day. With that being said let’s go over a few specifics for tomorrow. Meeting... - Meet at the yellow gate in Natalie off of Rt 54 for 8am. If you have issues finding the location contact 570-850-6827. - please be punctual we will be parking on DCNR property and must close and lock gate behind us. Tools - bring hand tools: rakes, hand saws, hand pruners. We will have some avaible but it’s always better to bring what you are comfortable using. - some points of the trail are remote so what ever you bring plan on carrying it for at least a mile during the day. What to wear - it’s a new trail build so dress to walk through brush. Long sleeves, pants, boots, and work gloves would be a good start. - bring something to carry water. Hard work requires hydration. Bottles of water will be available but will not always be accessible due to lay out of trail. Who can attend? EVERYONE! Group members, non members, potential future member, trail enthusiasts, anyone who is willing to volunteer will be met with open arms, a bottle of water, and a direction to put their trail work enthusiasm towards. Just keep in mind this will be a semi remote trail work location. Be prepared to do a good bit of hiking that will involve ascending and descending a mountain side with varying ground conditions. Hope to see everyone tomorrow and enjoy your weekend.
