On October 31, 20020 the students of FROM THE TOP put on a show to show off what they have learned so far this fall! The show included performances from all our students, a Trick or Treat Parade for all our students and their friends and siblings. Everyone also donated an item - food, clothes, toys to be distributed to those less fortunate in our community. Our wide diversity of styles were represented: Movers & Shakers (2-4 yrs), Combo (4-5 & 6-8 yrs), Ballet, Pointe, Hip H...op, Music Video, Lyrical, Contemporary/ Modern, Ballroom Fusion, Musical Theater, Broadway Jazz, Tap, Jazz!!! And we still have spots open for the 2020-2021 season! Thank you all who donated candy! Thank you all who helped during the day! It was a full blown team effort!! Normally, I’d be quick to send out a thank you message for a wonderful recital, but today I’m having trouble coming up with the right words to describe just how incredibly special yesterday was It wasn’t perfect, but nothing is right now. It wasn’t filled with special hugs from our dancers, because we can’t right now. It wasn’t even anything close to what we expected when we started our season, but you know what? It was EXACTLY what we needed to feel a little more whole agai...n. It has been a very long, tiring, stressful 5 months. When we first closed back in March, our team worked hard to shift gears to online instruction and although it wasn’t always as smooth as we wanted it to be, we made it work. Our dancers and their mental and physical well being was our top priority. As the end of May approached, we could have simply ended the season and called it a day. But we felt that if there was some way we could give our kids the opportunity to get on stage, we would do it! The difficult decision was made to forgo our regularly scheduled summer classes and that revenue, to offer our existing students an additional 5 weeks of in-studio and virtual classes. Again, our teachers and staff were put to the test. We worked relentlessly to develop and implement a strict indoor health and safety plan, change up class choreography and find an outdoor venue that would allow our dancers to safely perform for their families. We all had to take on new roles for our new situation. Some spent days and nights preparing the studio and teaching classes, others worked from home, focusing on virtual classes, new fall curriculum, and social media promotions. All our hard work would have been lost however, had it not been for the overwhelming love and support from our FTT Families! Whether your dancer was with us in the studio or online, your loyalty and trust in us made this season extra special and rewarding. The sense of accomplishment felt from overcoming a seemingly impossible obstacle is a feeling that we should all be so proud of!
