Its time to put your Christmas tree up, if you have not already! Although they look beautiful when they are lit up and full of gifts underneath, here is what Don recommends you do to prevent damage to your floors. Before even heading to the Christmas tree farm, you must prep for the trees new home.... Start with a clean area by sweeping and wiping the area to prevent scratching from debris. Always put your tree in a stand that will prevent water and sap from dripping on your floor. Be sure to add felt pads to the feet of the stand if you’re placing it on hardwood. A drip tray can be installed under the stand to prevent water from getting on your floor. (Disguise it with a tree skirt and you’re good to go!) Do not lay a towel under the stand, towels hold water and can cause damage to the floor. Be sure to shake the tree outside to prevent any needles from falling while installing. (Needles can scratch hardwood and LVT flooring.) Clean the area often to prevent any damage. Be sure to stay tuned for holiday tips all month long from our flooring EXPERT. Don's Tip of the Week! Its a rainy day here in Northumberland! Here's a tip to get that pesky mud out of your carpet! 1. Let the mud dry, and then vacuum up as much as possible.... 2. Mix one tablespoon of liquid hand dishwashing detergent with two cups of warm water. 3. Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with the detergent solution. 4. Blot until the liquid is absorbed. 5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until the stain disappears. 6.
