NATIONAL SCRABBLE DAY Today we are playing "SCRABBLE" with a few words that make our facility a special home to place your loved one. CARE (6 points): When you are choosing a facility for your loved one, care is the number one thing you are concerned about; right? Look no further. The care of your loved one is our number one priority.... HOME (9 points): After being settled into one place for many years, it can be difficult for a loved one to come to the realization that long-term care is necessary. Our facility strives to create a home like experience for your loved one from the cooked meals, new friends, ongoing activities, and more. THERAPY (15 points): Our facility offers Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy. These therapies are available for our short-term and long-term residents as needed. HOSPICE (14 points): Hospice care is a specialized service designed to help families cope with life-limiting illnesses. The intent of hospice care is to provide comfort and support to the resident and family members. Our facility works with many local hospices to create the most comforting experience. REHABILITATION (19 POINTS): When coming to our facility for a Short-Term Rehabilitation stay it is our goal to restore an individual to health or normal life through training and therapy after illness, injury, etc. NURSING (8 POINTS): Nursing is the heart of our facility. We employ Nurses' Aides, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Registered Nurses. Each nurse has an important role in your loved one's care. RESPITE (9 POINTS): Respite care is a short-term stay at a skilled nursing facility. A respite stay is often suggested for seniors who are recovering from a hospital visit or another health circumstance. It’s also available when a caregiver takes an extended vacation or for a nursing facility trial period. ACTIVITIES (15 POINTS): A lot of people do not realize the importance of activities in nursing facilities. The purpose of our activity staff is to improve the quality of life for our residents. Activities help a resident realize that they are not alone, and that there are others in their same situation. I initially became a social worker because I thought I could help the world. It wasn’t until about 4 years in to working Long Term Care that I realized I could probably only help one person at a time. The Gardens at Tunkhannock residents were overwhelmed with joy from receiving Christmas gifts from our community and staff. We would like to thank our community, staff, Falls Lion Club, Tunkhannock Rotary Club and Tunkhannock Walmart for all of their help making Christmas extra special this year for our residents. We also can’t thank Becca McClain and Stephanie Boehmer enough for all there extra hard work being Santa’s helpers. ... Happy Holidays from our Gardens at Tunkhannock Family to yours.

The Gardens at Tunkhannock had some visitors in the building this holiday season. . . . Santa Claus and the Grinch made an appearance.

We are feeling thankful for a community who has stood by us, residents’ family members who continue to stay connected, staff who has given their all day in and out, and our residents who through out this year still manage to put a smile on their faces. . . . We are wishing you all a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
