My shop boards were the first set I ever tried to stencil and stain. At the time I was using polycrylic to finish every set. I play on and leave these boards out almost every night, unless it snows or rains. The polycrylic is all but non-existent after 9 months. I decided to lightly sand the top and finish them with Park's Pro semi gloss polyurethane. The "Samurai" is all framed up and leaving tomorrow. The frame is a figured maple that I stained with @minwaxusa Walnut gel stain. I had a lot of fun with this piece and I'm looking forward to doing a lot more. I thought a little photo shoot with one of my bonsai would be appropriate for this one, although the positioning is all wrong when it comes to bonsai display guidelines. I finally finished staining the Samurai. It still needs a bit of a clean up. I'm thinking a walnut or dark stained maple frame will compliment the multiple colors nicely. I used @minwaxusa black gel stain as well as @generalfinishes new pine gel stain tinted with @mixolusa universal tints #1, 7,9,10,11,13 and 17. I made this small table for my dad's camper. As usual everything is 100% stain. I mixed @generalfinishes New Pine gel stain and @mixolusa orange, red and blue for the different colors. The black is @minwaxusa gel stain. The dark brown is @minwaxusa walnut gel stain with a bit of black for a light second coat. It's all finished up after spraying 5 coats of semi gloss polyurethane.
