Statement from Chief Jim Hoban regarding the house siren at Station 20: Last night (4/28/21) at Chief Sawyer’s town hall meeting a question came up regarding the use of the house siren at Station 20. Chief Sawyer stated that after a pilot program and hearing some complaints from residents and doing research he decided to shut off the house siren at Station 20. Since this decision was made both Chief Jim Hoban and Chief Sawyer have been in communication in the hope a resolutio...n can be made. In no way have the officers and members of Garrettford-Drexel Hill Vol. Fire Company approved any political social media posts regarding the use of the house siren at Station 20. This is not a political issue, and the fire company would appreciate that both Republicans and Democrats keep the fire company out of any grandstanding for the upcoming elections. PA's Move Over, Slow Down law goes into effect on 4/27/2021 Pennsylvania’s Move Over Law requires drivers approaching an emergency response area who are unable to safely merge into a lane further away from the response area to slow to at least 20 mph less than the posted speed limit. An emergency response area is where an emergency vehicle has its lights flashing, or where road crews or emergency responders have lighted flares, posted signs, or try to warn travelers.

HAPPENING NOW! Upper Darby School District and Delaware County Memorial Hospital are running a joint pop-up vaccination clinic out of the gymnasium at Upper Dar...by High School. There are additional doses available for anyone in Group 1A or 1B who are in need of their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. For those interested, come to Upper Darby High School’s gymnasium no later than 4 PM this afternoon, where these additional shots are being distributed on a first come first serve basis!

Rescue 20 on location as the RIT.

Happening now: Rescue/RIT 20 with a crew of 6 is currently responding to the 100-BLK of Beechtree Dr in Marple Twp for a working house fire.

Happening now: Company 20 along with the other townships companies are currently operating at a working fire on the 300-BLK Blanchard Rd. One victim had be removed from the dwelling and first in crews have water on the fire.

Company 20 has had a busy day so far responding to three emergencies including two working fires. First at 1058hrs companies 20, 26, 36, 37, & RIT74 were dispatched to the 400-BLK of Eaton Rd. for working fire. First in crews found a fire in the basement and went in service with a 1-3/4" attack line. The fire was placed under control in just under 30 mins. Then at 1410hrs Rescue/RIT 20 were dispatched for a working fire on the 500-BLK Arbor Rd in Yeadon Borough. Where first in crews had fire showing from the 3rd floor. RIT 20 assisting Manoa Fire Company - Station 56 on a working fire earlier this morning.

At 0712hrs Ladder 20 was dispatched to the unit block of South Lansdowne Ave in Lansdowne Borough for a working fire. Ladder 20 was on location for just under an hour and helped with ventilation in the rear of the property.
