After Martin was discharged from Encompass Health Memphis, he returned home. Nearly seven months after his accident, he’s living independently. By the second week in the hospital battling COVID-19 and pneumonia, Lafayette Johnson’s lungs collapsed, and his kidneys were shutting down. He had to be placed on a ventilator. By the fourth week, he had a heart attack and was placed on a second life support. When he finally woke up, he was extremely weak.
