CKGC is grateful to have a partnership with the Gettysburg Foundation and Sherfy Garden. Much of the fresh produce we receive is processed and frozen to help us sustain the winter months. #NationalGardeningDay

We’re back!! It feels so good to be in the kitchen again. It’s taken a bit longer than normal to get started considering the circumstances of this semester, but we’re so happy to continue our relationships with our community partners and to continue making meals safely. Thank you to our lovely volunteers for helping us out for our first processing shift!

As classes come to an end we wanted to take a moment to thank our incredible senior PC, Erin, and our senior LT members, Will and Anna. Erin spent 3 years as a PC bringing her incredible creativity, problem-solving skills and overall compassion to the table to make the kitchen a better place for students and community partners alike. This year, she welcomed two new PCs to the kitchen team and was a fantastic mentor. She worked so hard to help create programs we are so proud ...of like More Than a Meal and BurgBowls. We are so lucky to have had her and know she is going to do more amazing things in grad school. We can’t wait to see her at Senior Prom next year . Will worked with the Adams County Senior Centers and initiated an amazing exercise program that got seniors moving and brought so much joy to so many people. He brought an amazing energy to everything he did as a Nutrition and Education chair. We will miss him and wish him luck in wherever this next phase takes him, public health maybe? Anna was an amazing Shift Leader who always kept things interesting in the kitchen! She is reliable and independent and we will miss her so much. Her future plans for nursing school fit right in with the caring and amazing LT member we got to know over the years. This isn’t how we imagined we would be honoring our seniors, but we are grateful we had the chance to do such important work with them and excited to see what they continue on to do. Thank you for everything Will, Erin and Anna. And thank you to all our volunteers for a wonderful (though short) semester in the kitchen

We are so excited to welcome our newest PC, Sabrina, to the CKGC team! She is majoring in English and Classics, teaches nutrition education in the summers, and loves cooking and baking. She has been involved as a volunteer and leadership team member since she was introduced to the kitchen on GIV day. We are so lucky to have her and can’t wait to get in the kitchen again!
