Come one, come all! As restrictions lighten up, vaccinations increase, and the weather gets nicer come join the Greater Kensington String Band for an Open House/Open Rehearsal on Sunday May 16th, 2021. We will have a guest musical director, the legendary Brian Saunders. Our rehearsal will start at 12PM noon and run until about 2PM. After rehearsal, join us for a barbecue, open jam session, and a few cold beverages if you are of age. We will have our entire two floor buildin...g open, as well as our side yard. Some outdoor games will be set up outside. Plenty of room to be socially distant. If you have always been interested in joining a string band but do not play an instrument, now is a great time to learn. We have plenty of members who can teach you whichever instrument you would like to learn so don’t be shy! All are invited and encouraged to attend. We hope to see you there so we can all get our "MumDay" Sunday fix.

The Greater Kensington String Band extends its deepest sympathies to the Weisser family on the passing of longtime member of GKSB, Edward O. Weisser. Ed had a long tenure with the Greater Kensington String Band and was an active member as recently as this year. We were privileged to honor Ed for his commitment to GK by bestowing him the second ever Greater Kensington String Band Lifetime Achievement Award for his 64 years of membership and service in August of this past year.... Ed served as president of GKSB among many other leadership roles within the organization. His most recent role was as Treasurer to the club through most of 2020. He served in that role for many years. Ed was also inducted into the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association Hall of Fame in 2014. He was an exemplary Mummer, Gentleman, and Friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Thank you for your many years of dedication and service to GKSB, Ed.
