In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, EPICC wants to thank our Botvin LifeSkills teachers in our Connellsville Area Middle School. The three Wellness Teachers we have, Ms. Premus, Mr. Painter, and Mr. Dolde, have been so adaptive during the pandemic. We cannot thank them enough for ensuring the youth of their school get this much needed information.

Some things that aren’t a big deal to adults can cause significant stress for kids. MADD's Power of Parents workshop offers parents the tools they need to have difficult conversations with their youth about the dangers of underage drinking, an unhealthy coping mechanism young people often turn to when they experience stress. Sign up for our FREE Power of Parents workshop on May 21st at 5PM: http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event For more resources that can help you... have important conversations with your child, click the link below and visit our website! https://goepicc.com/ #goepicc #PAstart #startwithaconversation #makethedifference Paid for through a funding partnership of the following state agencies: DDAP, PDE, and PCCD / PAStart campaign assets made available by permission. 2021 Commonwealth Prevention Alliance

What We Learned Wednesday Did you know 65% of adults actually drink alcohol. That means roughly 1/3 of all adults do not drink at all. Teaching youth the numbers and proving that "not everyone is drinking" helps teach youth that they don't need to drink or do drugs to fit in or be like everyone else.

Happening today at 3:30! https://operationparent.org//free-webcast-talking-with-te/ "Join us for this free, live webinar as MADD (Mother’s Against Drunk Driving) National President Helen Witty, a parent and victim of drunk and drugged driving, who lost her precious daughter Helen Marie when a teen who had been drinking tequila and smoking marijuana made the terrible choice to get behind the wheel and drive. Helen believes it is stories like hers and sadly many others, that ...hold the power to create change. Helen will graciously remind us of the power we have as parents to help our teens make smart, healthy and safer choices. Participants will learn about the problem and consequences of underage drinking and marijuana use, the role teens’ friends/peers play, the power of parents and adults and what we can do today, tomorrow and in the future to keep our kids safe." Today we remember Pearl Harbor. We teach our youth history lessons so they learn about our past so it never becomes our future. If you have an interest in history, share it with your youth. They are always listening and sharing and interest can help you bond with them. #socialdevelopmentstrategy #goepicc #rememberpearlharbor
