To those who think the whistle is just a noise in the borough. Our volunteers selflessly woke at 3am and responded when they could have stayed home in BED but we are built differently. The whistle blows and we know that it means someone’s life is changing and for the worst, very quickly. The whistle is another means to notify volunteers, which could be your house or your neighbors house that may need the help. Next time the whistle blows say a prayer for those in trouble and ...those who are going to try to fix the trouble. Don’t say that thing needs to stop blowing. If you don’t want to hear the whistle we are always accepting new members! You could ride the rig with us instead of hearing it in your home! There is no one that dreads hearing that house siren more than us. We are the ones who have to go to work when it sounds. We are the ones that know that siren could mean the loss of a home or loved one. Once the siren stops most can go back to sleep, others will be up for hours handling the emergency and they will do so selflessly and wholeheartedly.
