"Hallowed be your name" is a cry of the heart. It is a course correction. It calls our hearts, our schedules, our relationships, our finances, our dreams and our desires...into alignment with their ultimate aim: God.... It is saying, "God, make yourself set apart from everyone and everything in my life. Make yourself the aim of my whole life. Let everything that I have, everything I do, everything I desire, every relationship and dream and habit and thought point towards you."

Watch today's message right here: The Way You Pray Can Change the Course of Your Life. Matthew 6:9 When we pray, Jesus teaches us to pray that God would align our lives with Him. Prayer itself becomes an opportunity to make course corrections in the way we are thinking, feeling, and living. For those in search of a bit of help, here's a short guided prayer exercise to practice this week: Hallowed be Your Name: A Guided Daily Prayer Exercise: https://youtu.be/ry-oN3SacHg

The starting point of prayer is not confession, though our need for confession is glaringly obvious. It is not worship, though that would make perfect sense. It's not requests. It's not gratitude. It's not a lengthy title or theological understanding. The starting point of prayer is RELATIONSHIP. Matthew 6:9 says, "This then is how we should pray: Our Father in heaven..."

Just like the early prophets, we need to take our disappointments and unmet expectations to God. Then pray like He can do anything he wants to, whenever He wants to, despite what happened yesterday, last year, or in the last decade. God is in the business of working miracles and He won't stop in 2021.

On this night, we celebrate the One who brings joy to those in mourning, freedom to those in bondage, wholeness to the broken, and victory to those who have given up. Join us as we light the candles, sing the carols, and hear the message of hope in this special GVF Christmas Eve at Home experience.
