This post is intended to give homeowners a tip on a simple DIY fix that could save you a TON of money and stress. Check where your electrical line enters your home. If there is not a good seal around the opening into the building, it could be directing water into your electrical panel. This is a surprisingly common problem that could be avoided with a 2 minute fix. If you are not interested, or unable to do this yourself, give me a call and I will take care of it for you!

In the event that a breaker trips in your home, if you or someone in the home is comfortable enough to check the breaker panel, here is some helpful information. First, a tripped breaker can sometimes be hard to spot. Most breakers do not snap back entirely to the off position when tripped. The breaker will be positioned in the center, or tripped position, as shown. Once a tripped breaker is located, the breaker needs to be "reset". It is as simple as flipping the knob of the... breaker all the way into the off position (this is a reset for the tripped breaker), then flipping it back to the on position. When you turn the breaker back into the on position, there should be some resistance, and you should hear and feel the breaker snap back into the on position. If the breaker knob moves freely without resistance, or trips back immediately upon resetting it, we recommend you contact your local electrical for further assistance. See more

This customer had power shut off to their home unexpectedly when the power company found this corrosion behind their meter. One indication that you may have a corrosion problem somewhere in your electrical system, is if you have lights in your house dimming or behaving erratically. Worked quickly to get this replaced to get power restored as soon as possible. If you have any concerns or questions call me today (814)389-7231
