Being a social worker in hospice means witnessing - on a daily basis - the struggle to find meaning in the face of death. They have the unique opportunity to he...lp people to identify, try to answer, and live with core existential questions. As part of an interdisciplinary team, a hospice social worker focuses on providing support to both the patient and their family/caregiver(s) during some of the most vulnerable life experiences. While this can be a challenging role to take on, there is also great reward in becoming a social worker. They have the opportunity to truly help people and make a difference in their lives, standing by them as they face some of life’s most difficult challenges. Providing this level of support and empowerment to people is something that sticks with you and can lead to self-growth and improvement for the social worker as well. Thank you Social Workers everywhere for all that you do to support us in our greatest times of need!

Featured Friday! Today we are highlighting different Girl Scout Troops out of York that volunteered to make these sweet Valentine's for our patients! Covid-19 has definitely been a challenge as far as navigating ways that volunteers can stay involved without the in-person visits that we are accustomed to. Despite this, we are still finding ways to connect! We have many remote volunteering opportunities, such as writing letters & cards, holiday crafts, and more. Please let us know if you would be interested, we'd love to get you involved!

Traditionally the Grane Hospice Staff hosts a memorial service for all of the families whose loved ones have passed on our services that year. Seeing as Covid-19 has put a halt on gatherings, we decided to do a virtual memorial service to let our families know that we are still here, and honor the memories of the patients we have had the privilege of caring for.
