Some things make you smile. For years, every time "Joan" came to see me, this x-ray put a smile on my face. No matter what was happening in her life, she was just as cheerful as this tooth. Even after losing both of her legs, Joan still joked with us about her "smiley tooth" as her devoted husband lifted her into the dental chair. We should all be so lucky to have someone look at us the way these two looked at each other after 69 years of marriage. "Joan's" husband called today to let us know that she had passed. He didn't need to say that she was the love of his life, but he did. When Sharon told me the news I immediately opened her chart to look at this silly x-ray and smile because some things, and some people, just make you smile.
