Current families are invited to tonight's PCA CARES session as a safe space to grieve, express rage, and find ways to stand up against the expression of white supremacy ideology especially in light of the recent murders of Asian women in Atlanta. We hold the victims and their families of this immense tragedy, and all those impacted by the increased anti-Asian atmosphere of the past year and historic racism, in the Light. After processing the events of the week, the meetings will focus on a continued discussion of the text of My Grandmother's Hands by Resmaa Menakem. Below image is a Black Lives Matter Principle Poster, created by Middle School students Zoom information can be found in Monday's email titled "PCA and PCA Meetings this week". We will gather from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

What's better than reinforcing mitigation practices like mask wearing and hand washing to keep our community healthy? Combing these lessons with Greek mythology! Last week, we celebrated Healthy Hawks Week, with reminders of all the ways we can keep ourselves and one another healthy. Students learned more about why we wear masks on Monday and Tuesday, why we socially distance on Wednesday and Thursday, and why we wash our hands on Friday. Classes were also encouraged to incorporate these lessons into their individual studies, with 4th Graders rising to the challenge. The annual Greek mythology wax museum is coming up on Friday, but we hope you enjoy this drawing of a masked hydra who doesn't *love* heroes in the meantime.

Earlier this morning, Middle School students gathered for a virtual Black Lives Matter assembly, building off of last month's Black Lives Matter Week. Leaders from Ancestor's Wildest Dreams, the GSFS Black Student Union, began the assembly by sharing the history of the Black Lives Matter Movement. Students then watched "Don't Call Me Woke" by Lyonzo and had a worship share to develop ideas for action and encourage one another to make change. The assembly concluded with small groups of students creating posters based on the principles of the Black Lives Matter Movement. You can watch the video of Lyonzo's performance below and look for a future art installation on campus, featuring the posters created at the end of today's assembly.
