This afternoon the Greenfield Township Police Responded along with Clifford Township Fire Department for the report of a dog stuck in a well. Great job by the Fire Department executing a successful rescue.

Please be aware of a SCAM currently going around Susquehanna County A resident received a call from 570-278-4600 claiming that there was a warrant for money lau...ndering out of El Paso Texas for his arrest. The female caller then transferred the caller to who he thought was a representative from the Susquehanna County Sheriff’s office. The male spoke broken English claimed to be a VICTOR REED with a broken accent and very hard to understand. They asked for a large sum of money or be faced with incarceration 1. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION BY PHONE TO ANYONE UNLESS YOU KNOW THE CALLER. 2. WE NEVER PROVIDE OUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, DATE OF BIRTH, CREDIT CARD, BANK INFORMATION TO ANYONE 3. WRITE DOWN THE INCOMING PHONE NUMBER FROM THE CALLER ID IF YOUR ABLE 4. WRITE DOWN KEY PHRASES, THERE REQUEST! 5. HANG UP, DISCONNECT AND NEVER PROVIDE DETAILS 6. CALL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND IMMEDITALY AND REPORT IT https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/submit-a-c/scams-complaint/ 7. CRIMINALS ACCESS YOUR PUBLIC INFORMATION FROM WEB SITES, SOCIAL MEDIA 8. IF YOU BELIEVE YOU HAVE A WARRANT FOR FAILURE TO APPEAR PLEASE CALL MY OFFICE AT 570-278-6650 OR 6652 (Spoofing a phone number is making it appear that it is coming from a reliable source) The caller asked that you never tell anyone about the call, it is important that you do tell family or a case worker who can attempt to contact your financial institution to STOP any transaction unfortunately in many cases it’s too late.
