We can't thank both our volunteers and other members of the community for helping us make these important connections. All of these items that we pass along are used to further other missions through reuse and repurpose.

Choosing to opt out of plastic bags is easy way to start making a small difference. Take note of how many bags you normally use in a week and multiply it by 52 to see your impact in just a year. There are multiple options available on the market that are washable and will suit all your shopping needs.

While curbside recycling is great for most household recycling, there are several other options available locally for items that can't be put on your curb. Some include: Plastic bags (most grocery stores), Glass (visit Bayfront Glass, LLC or Prism Glass Recycling for sites) Clothing (Almost all second hand stores have programs, including us), Light bulbs (Hardware Stores) Not sure, ask us, and we can see if we can point you to the right place.

Often times there are a lot of little things that happen behind the scenes at Green Scene Thrift that we often take for granted and get lost in the shuffle of keeping the store running. Those little things are actually much bigger than they appear, and the effects that they have on the community are unmeasurable. We often get items that are donated that we can't use. Often times there might not be anything wrong with the items, they may just be outdated, a little scuffed up o...r even just not in high demand at the store. When this happens, we try to find other solutions for these items that will still benefit our community and keep them in use. One of those solutions came about when we met Lynn Yusz. Lynn volunteers her time filling and taking care of many of the Little Free Libraries in Erie County. The little libraries are boxes around the community that provide free books to anyone who would like one. Lynn understands the importance and impact that books can have for people of all ages, and spends hours insuring there are always books available. We are happy to be able to support Lynn by providing some of the books she uses to fill the libraries. Through the generous donations of our supporters, and hard work by Lynn, our entire community becomes a little bit better. Thank you Lynn. This project was created by Janie Froehlich, owner of Infinite Designs and Gatherings, which specializes in creating unique crafting and art experiences. Janie is passionate about using upcycled materials and reducing waste and has partnered with Green Scene Thrift to offer eco-friendly upcycling projects and workshops to our community.
