Arena Obstacle Schooling- April 17- We had 24 participants try out our obstacles. We talked about intent, soften the eyes, focus the nose, look for forward energy, direct the feet. Obstacles set out were tarp, tarp with pool noodles underneath to make it squishy, pool noodle squeeze, carwash, teeter-totter, ball, tent, ring the bell, backwards L, umbrellas, bridge, feet in the box/yielding, jump black pipe, blue barrels. Join us for the next play day May 22.

Congratulations to Diana and Piper. Reserve Champion in Intro Level for the OVCTA year end awards. Diana has just completed her first year riding Piper after retiring her long time partner Wellington at Ryerss. This year they have Training Level goals as well as a Musical Kur in the works.

Several students rode in the "What is the Judge Looking For" clinic with Rebecca Cord. Students Alice and Nicole rose to the challenges presented. Doreen had a super ride on Louie, clarifying their second level moves. There were many takeaways- Clarification of scoring system and modifiers. Grow the neck. Before you use a rein aid, create impulsion with leg. Benefits of moving between lateral movements for greater lightness in front, differences between first/second/third level framing. Lengthening versus extension. Great Day.

Our Arena Obstacle Schooling is fun and different every time. Some concepts that came up... always build the pause, bend to a stop, how to move your horse sideways from the ground, first time over a tarp, keep your feet still/ move your horse's feet, patience while processing.
