The Hampden Township Volunteer Company has decided to participate in World Autism Awareness Month by creating a shirt focused on just that, Autism Awareness. Each shirt is $20 with all proceeds going to Autism Research Institute. A huge thank you to Paula Kostick with Classic Dry Cleaners for dropping off a goodie bag at the station this afternoon.

Hampden volunteers were part of the initial on scene crews working to fight house fire in Silver Spring. Members worked interior and on the roof suppressing the fire.

Truck 30 with 5 volunteers and Rescue 30 with 7 volunteers along with Chief Owen responded to Silver Spring Township to assist with a House Fire last evening into this morning. Crews spent about 3 hours assisting with various fire ground tasks on the scene and about 2 hours of clean up at the station.

Early this morning around 0240 hours, the members of HTVFC were requested to assist our mutual aid partners (New Kingstown and Silver Spring) with a Tractor Trailer accident involving fire on Interstate 81. Crews assisted with fire attack, overhaul and traffic control before the scene was turned over to PennDot and the towing company.

Last evening at our monthly fire company meeting, Hampden Township Commissioner, Nate Silcox, presented Lieutenant Zach Stromelo with the Township Firefighter of Year award for 2020. The Firefighter of the Year award is decided by the Township to go to a member who provides exceptional service to the fire company and the community it serves. It is presented to a standout member, one that participated in trainings frequently, responds to high numbers of calls, attends meeting...s regularly, and in all puts the fire company and community’s needs before their own. Congratulations Lieutenant Stromelo! This award is typically given at our annual awards banquet; however, unfortunately, due to Covid-19, the membership was forced to cancel the banquet, and many other events, for 2020.

The first call for 2021! The Volunteers from Hampden Township VFC rescued a cat named Coraline who was stuck in a tree for the past 2 days. This non-emergency community service is just one example of what volunteer firefighters do to help. Our yearly statistics will be posted at a later time but we are busy company and run all kinds of calls. We also would like to thank all township residents who have donated to our fund drive.
