There’s good news to report, for Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Cervical cancer was once one of the most common causes of cancer death for American women. But thankfully, the death rate dropped significantly because many women are screened via Pap tests, which can find cervical cancer early when it is easier to cure. A clinical trial open to patients with head and neck cancerspecifically, th...ose with locally-advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, that uses both radiation and chemotherapy. A supportive care study testing a film that dissolves in the mouth instead of an IV drug for nausea/vomiting caused by chemotherapy treatment in many different forms of cancer. Also, a supportive care study designed for the treatment of myelosuppression and anti-tumor efficacy in people with colorectal cancer. Introducing Heidi Lucas, RD LDN, from Chambersburg, is a registered dietitian with 25+ years’ experience. Thanks to our recent nutritional seminar open to all patients, Heidi began building a rapport with several patients in need of nutritional help. She assesses patients’ charts for deficiencies, and suggests food to replace nutrients the patients are lacking. She is also working with patients who utilize peg tubes to figure out what their caloric intakes should be. Thank you, Heidi!

Let’s give a warm welcome to two new Medical Assistants, Jacinda and Adonay, who just joined our staff of nearly 40 medical professionals! Jacinda is from Tom's River, New Jersey, where she was a Medical Assistant in a cardiology office for three years. She recently moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to her family. Adonay is also from New Jersey! She graduated from YTI in 2015. She enjoys going to the beach with her family, and she has a six-year old daughter, Adrianna.
