It is with great sadness that Hanover Shoe Farms announces that millionaire pacing mare and 2019 Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame inductee Tricky Tooshie p,1:52.1 ($1,005,556) has died at the age of 31. Tricky Tooshie had her last foal, Techino Hanover, in 2015 and has been a beloved member of Hanover’s retired mare band since. Born April 22,1990 in Mercier, Quebec, Tricky Tooshie was a dominant performer in Quebec Sire Stakes Action as a 2 and 3-year-old for owner Laurent... Bergevin and trainer Jean-Louis Deblois. As a 4-year-old she was shipped to Ontario and for the next 5 seasons regularly competed against and defeated the best distaffers in that province. Described by trainer Rick Zeron as thriving on winning Tricky Tooshie certainly left that in her foals and particularly in a well-known granddaughter named Lyons Sentinel. Bred by Hanover, Lyon Sentinel p,3,1:49.2($1,236,361 ) is a daughter of Captaintreacherous out of Tricky Tooshie’s daughter Tutu Hanover and was the 2019 Dan Patch 2-Year-Old Pacing Filly Of the Year (the same year her illustrious grandmother was inducted into the Hall Of Fame). Tooshie was genuinely a favorite of mine says Hanover’s Executive Vice President Dr. Bridgette Jablonsky. She had her quirks but she was tough and all business. She has passed that on to her foals and her grand-foals. Coincidentally, we just purchased her granddaughter, Trillions Hanover p,1:49.3 ($344,741), the Somebeachsomewhere sister to Lyons Sentinel and hope she will continue Tooshie’s legacy. This beautiful filly, foaled on February 3rd, 2021 at Hanover Shoe Farms, is daughter of International Moni and out of the mare Holtby Hanover. This is Holty Hanover's first foal and she will be bred to Bar Hopping this year.

This handsome colt, foaled January 29, 2021 at Hanover Shoe Farms, is a son of Bar Hopping and out of the mare Cankeysto. Cankeysto will be bred to International Moni this year.

The 2021 books for the sensational first year pacing stallions Papi Rob Hanover and Tall Dark Stranger are full and closed. Additionally, all available shares in each stallion have been purchased. Hanover Shoe Farms extends a thank you to all of the breeders that have purchased shares in or applied for breedings to these two exciting prospects. There are very limited bookings available to second year trotting stallion Greenshoe and leading pacing stallion Captaintreacherous. Breeders wishing to book their mares to these two stallions are encouraged to submit contracts as soon as possible.

Bar Hopping - 2021 service fee : $8,500

Seeking qualified applicants for several full-time positions on busy Standardbred breeding farm- Experienced Stallioner- Responsibilities would include daily care of some of the industry’s leading stallions in addition to safely handling stallions for artificial collections. Must have previous stallion handling experience and excellent references. Yearling Trainer Supervisor- Responsibilities would include handling and gentling weanling/yearlings five days a week; working on... ground manners- haltering, leading, picking up hooves for inspection, getting them used to being groomed and broken to crossties; assisting yearling supervisor with turn out and trailering of yearlings; assisting blacksmith with trimming of yearlings in addition to handling foals for microchipping and blacksmith work; keeping notes on behavior of individuals and any abnormalities reported to farm manager. Position would include assisting yearling crew with weekend field inspections on a rotational basis and assisting with yearling sale prep. Previous work with yearlings and a solid background of horse handling experience required.
