Harmony in the House

I spent my 50th birthday with friends and drank whiskey from a rusty topped formula 44 bottle with Big Jack. He had the most amazing left hand often playing the leads with it and drawing my attention to the technique. He was a W.C. Handy award winner (2003) and was from Clarksdale, MS where he is memorialized on the Blues Trail. He passed in 2011. Also with us is Curtis Speight who was one of the kindest and funniest people I'd ever know. Sadly missed.

Still one of my favorite groups and my buddy Drew Boychuk got me thinking about them. These are from a 1997 concert with Little Feat at the IC light stage at Station Square aptly managed by Michael Steinmetz.

Where did it all start for me promoting acts and festivals...well, this was it. Urbana College 1968. Phil Ochs was the first headliner I booked and it was a wee...kend I will always remember. As I am home, organizing, I went through things that I have carried with me for years including the publicity pack, numerous letters with Michael Ochs (brother/agent), the contract, and the pics from the concert and the one with Phil, me, and Peter Collins. I contacted his sister Sonny and asked if she wanted any of this for her archives. She said she did and I scanned and sent her everything with originals of some docs I had in duplicate. In a moment of shameless self promotion I sent her I'm Coming Home, the new cd, She contacted me today and had taken time to listen to the cd. She told me that should would be playing a cut on her radio program and that made my heart smile. You can find Sonny Ochs here...
