Harvey's Auto Body & Towing 06.12.2020

Post from Tuesday, December 8, 2020. We were requested to a single vehicle accident with fluid release by Harmony Township PD on Route 65 near Wright’s dealership. We dispatched a flatbed and our Emergency Response Unit. This 2017 VW Jetta struck the guide rail and center barrier before coming to rest atop the center median. The vehicle sustained heavy damage to the driver front corner, the undercarriage, the suspension, and the entire passenger side. Our crew quickly contain...ed the fluid leak with environmentally friendly absorbent as the leak was very near a storm drain and on a heavily trafficked highway. We loaded the vehicle onto a flatbed for transport due to the damage sustained and location of the vehicle on the median. Once the vehicle was moved, our crew worked the absorbent into the leak to ensure no slippery sheen was left behind. All the contaminated absorbent was contained in a DOT drum for proper disposal. The vehicle was transported back to our port for securement. The driver of the vehicle was taken from the scene via ambulance. He was at our location today to gather personal belongings. He did not appear to have sustained any serious injuries, but please keep him in your prayers. We want to extend a huge thank you to the Harmony Township fire department as well as the Harmony Township, Baden, and Ambridge officers for their wonderful assistance on scene with the driver and traffic control in keeping us safe.

Last night around 10:00PM, we were requested by Economy PD for a single vehicle rollover into the creek on Hoenig road. This Dodge Dakota left the roadway, traveled down the embankment, proceeded to roll over, and come to rest on the driver side in the creek. The vehicle first must be put back onto its wheels to recover from the creek. The vehicle was rigged with one line of wire rope and a snatch block to a tree to change the direction of the wire rope due to the inability t...o access the vehicle from across the creek. The vehicle was then rigged with another line of wire rope to the rear to act as a catch line to lower the vehicle as it was rolled over. Once the vehicle was back onto its wheels, it was rigged with dual line wire rope and recovery straps from the rear. The vehicle was winched carefully from the rear until it was clear from the water. Economy Fire Department rigged to the front driver wheel with their rescue truck as a safety measure to ensure the firemen below in the creek were not in a rollover danger zone while the vehicle was winched up the steepest part of the embankment. Once back onto solid roadway, it was clear the vehicle had sustained heavy damage all over. The vehicle was loaded onto our truck for transport from scene back to our location for securement. We want to extend a tremendous thank you to the Economy fire department for their assistance on scene. Two of the firemen, Nick Paugh and Matt Morrow, were willing to go into the freezing, flowing water to assist with rigging and recovery. They also were very generous in using their rescue truck to assist us in ensuring a safe scene and recovery process. The occupants of the vehicle were uninjured. Please remember drive carefully in these icy and snowy road conditions. We are very thankful nobody was injured.

Post from Friday, November 27, 2020 around 1:00AM. We were requested by Baden PD for a heavy vehicle recovery over a hillside on Grandview Avenue. Due to circumstances given by 911 Dispatch, we dispatched a medium duty wrecker, our Emergency Response Unit, a flatbed, and a service vehicle with our portable light tower generator. This 2017 Hyundai Tucson traveled approximately 125 feet from the solid roadway backwards over the heavily wooded and steeply graded hillside. The ve...hicle came to rest teetering on two wheels in the bottom of the ravine in a small creek bed. Due to the lack of lighting and night time conditions, our light tower was put up to ensure adequate vision for our technicians to operate safely. In order to access and recover the vehicle safely, a chainsaw and cutters were used to remove shrubbery, logs, and trees from the path of travel. Once clear for recovery, the vehicle was rigged with dual line wire rope, recovery straps, and snatch blocks. A medium duty wrecker was used to ensure an adequate amount of wire rope to reach the vehicle. The vehicle was winched sideways at a 45 degree angle until back onto four wheels to keep from teetering over embankment. Once off embankment, vehicle was then able to be winched the rest of the path up the hillside back to solid roadway. Once the vehicle was back to the roadway, it was visible it had sustained damage to the passenger side, rear, and undercarriage. Due to the damage and AWD drive train, the vehicle was transported from the scene via a flatbed back to our lot for securement. The driver of the vehicle was still entrapped upon arrival. She was brought up the hillside via a rope and pulley system and basket by the firemen and firewomen. We want to thank the Baden, Harmony Township, Ambridge, and Conway officers on scene assisting with the situation. We also want to thank the Baden fire department and the Harmony Township fire department for their wonderful work on scene rescuing the driver of this vehicle efficiently and professionally. Also a huge thank to Economy Ambulance for treating the driver wonderfully and rendering medical aid on scene and en route to the hospital. Our first responders are truly an amazing group of people. The driver did come down the following day to gather personals. Although very shaken up and certainly sore, she did not appear to have sustained any serious injuries. Please keep her in your prayers regardless as something like this can be very traumatic, especially considering the distance and location of the accident.
