This is why we can't have nice things. The new playground equipment at Intown Park.
At Lucerne park this morning. We really need the community to patrol the parks if at all possible. We actually have people riding quads through the playground where the new equipment and mulch are.
More upgrades to the pool and the stairs came today!!!!
More improvements to the pool!!! Wheelchair accessible bathrooms.

Homer-Center Recreation and Parks Board Aaron Lehman, President Matthew Black, Vice President Thomas Citeroni, Treasurer Michael Bertig, Recorder... June 15, 2020 For immediate release: The members of the Homer-Center Recreation and Parks Board wish to explain their rationale for closing the Homer City Pool this summer. Our decision was not made lightly, as it impacts members of the Homer-Center community, as well as our own families. Our reasoning is as follows: 1. Due to the Cornonavirus pandemic, those who wanted to do lifeguard training were prohibited to do so from March through June. With potential new lifeguards unable to receive training and certifications, and only three returning certified lifeguards, our situation was tenuous. Even though we constantly advertised for lifeguard positions throughout this time, with the harshest restrictions lifted in June, we received no applications for new lifeguards. 2. It is difficult to maintain social distancing at our pool, considering our size constraints. Furthermore, we do not want to be in the position to reject guests when our guest capacity is fulfilled. 3. While well-intentioned, the "yellow" and "green" measures in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania appear to be feel-good measures. In states that have had similar phased reopenings, Coronavirus cases are currently on the rise. 4. Thanks to a grant that we worked hard to receive from the Commonwealth, in addition to using our own funds, the Homer-Center Recreation and Parks Board has been able to make many improvements to our parks, and will soon be doing so for the pool. These improvements include new playground equipment at three of our parks, additional parking, and will soon feature beautifully resurfaced tennis and basketball courts at In-Town Park in Homer City. Additionally, based on earlier reports regarding the virus, we opted to renovate the pool house and pool grounds with our remaining money. This new construction will begin in June. While we are starkly aware of the pain that a closed pool causes our community, we strongly considered the above facts before making a very difficult decision. The lack of a community pool this summer will lead to a safe pool experience for everyone in 2021, with better amenities than ever, including a renovated poolhouse, as well as stairs into the pool.
The Homer City Pool will not be open until further notice. We are continuing to move forward with renovations.
The little free pantry at Floodway Park is full. The people of Homer-Center are amazing. Please come and grab something if you are in need. Thanks Justin Smyers. Please share.
