Continuing with our "Meet the Staff" series.... here are the two main teachers at the Center. Mr Carl Henry Joseph (tan pants) who teaches computer and Mr Elecson Jean who teaches English 1 & 2. Both these men go way above and beyond with their students. They even come in when not teaching- just to hang out with the youth, interact with them and assist David with extra programs. They have both been teaching at our place for years and have really shown their dedication to the ministry and vision we have to mentor these youth. We are so blessed to have them both as part of our ministry. Please keep them in your prayers as they teach, travel to/from our location and give so much to our community! #haiti #blessed #teachers #mentors #disciplemakers #ministry #pray #support #sponsor #missionarylife

These three got money for ice cream because they were on time today to write sponsor letters. You can see they were both surprised and happy. #haiti #icecreamtreat #bonus #surprise #ontime #reward #thankyou #missionarylife

Some days it is so difficult to be in the USA when I know what is happening in Haiti. Not that I need to be there for them. I want to be there for me! The relationships I have built with many of these youth from our community is such a blessing to me. Anyone who has known me for any length of time knows how much I love interacting with this age group. From working with middle schoolers as a job for 12 years, to leading high school youth group, to starting & coaching Bible qui...z teams, to leading many short term mission trips, my life has been full of time spent with youth. So, to sit here when I could be doing what God created me to do is tough. But, I trust He will lead me back soon enough. Until then, enjoy these photos of Leila, Kerrison, Alens, Kenley, Lorvensky & Wan (also Ralph & Cedric in the group shot) as they write sponsor letters today. I know I am LOVING what I see here in these photos! We hope to mail letters this week so sponsors keep checking your mailboxes! #haiti #sponsor #letters #excited #alittlejealous #missingthem #relationships #friendship #blessed #watchyourmailbox #contactus #donate #missionarylife See more

Last week every class at the Center got to watch the Jesus film in Creole. Staff also talked to them both before and after the movie about Jesus and His sacrifice for us all. Then, on Saturday at Bible club they talked about the statements Jesus made when on the cross. David said they had a lot of discussion on forgiveness. We are so blessed to be able to share times like this with youth in our community. Who knows how God will use these moments to impact the lives of these students and many others in years to come! (PS- LOOK at how still they are sitting) #haiti #Jesus #discipleship #share #blessed #thankyou #video #exciting #gospel #easter #missionarylife

Reflecting this morning on the past TEN years as a ministry in Haiti and all God has taught us during that time. This photo is taken outside Les Cayes in the south of Haiti in March 2011- our first mission group! Though we no longer have official ministry in this area I (Crystal) have an incredible love for this community and many of the people I got to know there. Though the rural areas of Haiti are not experiencing some of the violence that our current (more urban) ministry... location has, they still feel the weight of the incredibly sad state of turmoil their country is facing right now. Last night as I sat talking to a friend who lives in this peaceful countryside location, four people (including a pastor) were kidnapped during a live broadcast of a church service. Right in Carrefour! Within walking distance of our community center. This breaks my heart. The video I received and viewed is extremely disturbing. At first I thought it may be an April Fool's prank or a skit done to show the world what people are facing in and near the capital city, but unfortunately that is not the case. The incredible boldness of those in the gangs astounds me. The fear people have is real. They are scared to send children to school, scared to sell their wares on the street, scared to sit outside and fellowship with neighbors,... This needs to STOP! Haiti already has enough trouble with natural disasters, food insecurity and poverty to name a few. But this? This is intentional evil. Intended to cause destruction, fear and chaos. And, it is getting more and more common. More and more "normal". Please join us as we pray for peace and a return to the Haiti of even just 3 years ago. A Haiti where I could travel without fear. Where I could walk the streets, fellowship with our neighbors, and share in their lives. A Haiti where children could go to school regularly without constant closures and interruptions to their learning. A Haiti where the cost of living was inflated compared to earning BUT it was at least somewhat manageable. Now? It is virtually impossible to survive. Please join us in prayer for this amazing country with so much potential! Thanks -Crystal #haiti #prayers See more

Hearts United with Haiti cares about what they will become tomorrow and Hearts United does not forget that they are children today.

Tell me who you hang out with and I'll tell you who you are. That is the center after English class. They were computer students, they are done with computer for now they are English students.we spend more time with them just to prevent them hanging out with bad people. We teach them and we ask them to share what they receive as education in the center with their friends , their family. If you see some of them playing basketball barefoot because I asked them to take off their school shoes , we just try to protect the parents I do know it's difficult for them to find money to buy new school shoes. We love you so much , God bless all the supporters of Hearts United with Haiti.

12 Janvier 2010- A day that impacted lives all over the world- mine included. I remember being glued to the TV watching as events unfolded and feeling God's pull. It is so hard to explain. There were many natural disasters before and since, but this was different to me. When God calls you into action and puts a passion in your soul there is no turning from it. I knew that in some way He would lead me to this country. These people. And He did just that less than a month later.... Not to go and do things FOR people. Not to have pity on people. But, to begin (and continue to build) relationships. Friendships. And to learn SO MUCH throughout the process. About myself. About Him. And about this world. His world. His plans. Now to encourage others to do the same. This incredibly tragic event in world history was a catalyst for me. And, I will be forever grateful to God for His patience, persistence, and the experiences I have had the past 11 years. Haiti- I remember along with you. I mourn along with you. I pray along with you-- today and every day! What a journey it has been. But today..... know that all those photos, stories, and experiences are as fresh as they were when shared with me. Know you are strong and resilient and God has used you (and your people) to impact many over the years. I am one forever changed! I love you! #ayiti #haiti #foreverchanged #grateful #neverforget #wemournwithyou #memories #God #12janvier2010 #missionarylife See more

Would you like to send a verse? What is your go-to? I have two: Hebrews 6:10 and 1 Thessalonians 2:8 but there are so many others that mean so much! I love this idea that I saw on a friend's page and will be excited to see how God uses it in this coming year. #haiti #verse #prayer #letmeknow #wxcited #blessed #missionarylife.

Happy New Year everyone! Thank you for your continued support throughout the years. As we enter our second decade of ministry we want you to know how much we sincerely appreciate you, pray for you, and thank God for each and every one of you. Though 2020 may have been rough on us all, in many ways it was our best year yet! God has continued to show His love for the people we minister alongside in Haiti and allows us (and you) the blessing of being His hands and feet in our community there. Abundant blessings in 2021 and beyond! -the Hearts United with Haiti family #haiti #family #blessed #happynewyear #bonane #missionarylife
